The picking, processing and packaging of organic blueberries at Ashrey Farms is a critical component of ensuring the berries you receive are of the highest quality and arrive properly packaged at the precise temperature to ensure freshness.  We accomplish this by hand picking our blueberries at the peak of their growing season ensuring optimum color and flavor.

Production
After the berries are hand picked in the field they are transported to the processing center where they are allowed to cool to a temperature of 54 degrees before they are processed and packaged.  The berries are then transferred to the processing line where they are inspected, sized, culled and packaged for further cooling prior to shipment.  Once the berries are labeled and the packages assembled into pallet size containers the berries are moved into the chiller area awaiting transportation; the chiller keeps the berries at approximately 34 degrees to ensure their freshness.

The final step for Ashrey Farms blueberries is transportation to our customers.  To accomplish this task we constructed a special shelter to accommodate the large trucks arriving to transport our blueberries.  This shelter allows our berries to be transported from the cooler directly into the back of a refrigeration trailer with minimal temperature loss ensuring Ashrey Farms berries arrive at our customers market in only the freshest and finest condition.
