About Us
Ashrey Farms was founded in 2007 in Decatur County in beautiful Southwest Georgia. Ashrey is a Hebrew word meaning blessed. The 24-acre organic blueberry farm is located on a 1600-acre nature preserve, which is managed intensely for native plants, game and timber. Both partners, Mike Grimsley and Wesley Popiel, discovered that they have a passion for organic farming. With Mike’s business background and Wes’s crop science background, their talents complimented each other well, and they decided to start this exciting venture.

Ashrey Farms includes several varieties of blueberries. There is 3 acres of early highbush ripening from mid-April to mid-May. Three varieties of rabbiteye bushes make up the remaining 21-acres and ripen from mid-May to late June. This spring/summer is the blueberries’ third growing season. A 2000 square foot packing shed was constructed this spring and allows the blueberries to be packed and refrigerated on-site.
Ashrey Farms has produced beautiful blueberries this year and will continue to grow with additional organic produce planned for the future.

Mike is originally from Bainbridge, GA where Ashrey Farms is located. He graduated from the University of Georgia and co-owns a development company based in Atlanta, GA. Wesley moved to the area 11 years ago from Athens, GA. He also graduated from UGA with a crop science degree. He currently owns and operates a wildlife management company.
